And we know that it will go pretty much like Alberta provincial elections and the 'most' votes for separation will be conservatives in rural areas. THe cities will vote to stay in canada. Its VERY unlikely that it will hit 50%, especially after recent news, and in most polls a LOT of albertans admit they are doing it as a bargaining chip with Ottawa. Now a couple of new pipelines have been announced, and most certainly those pipelines would be cancelled if there were suddenly a 'brexit'.

But the sooner october comes and they have the referendum, the sooner it stops being an issue.
