“Pagan Dances” is Berd Dance Ensemble’s journey into the sacred world of ancient Armenia — a civilization that worshipped Aramazd, the father of all gods and creator of heaven and earth; Anahit, the golden mother goddess whom the ancients believed was the very reason Armenia existed; and Vahagn — the dragon slayer, born from fire, thunder and the crimson dawn of the sea, whose miraculous birth was sung across Armenia and even in the realm of the gods.

These are not simply dances. They are rituals — echoes of a time when every movement was an offering, every rhythm a prayer to the cosmos. Karen Gevorgyan, Honored Worker of Culture of Armenia and Artistic Director of Berd Dance Ensemble, has spent decades hunting down the rarest fragments of Armenian dance heritage, reconstructing lost worlds from scattered traces of history, and breathing them back to life on stage. With “Pagan Dances,” he doesn’t just choreograph — he resurrects.
Even today, Armenians carry the names of these ancient gods — Aramazd, Vahagn, Anahit, Astghik — proof that no matter how many centuries passed, the pagan soul of Armenia was never truly extinguished. Now it moves again.
«Հեթանոսական Պարեր» – սա «Բերդ» պարի անսամբլի ճանապարհորդությունն է դեպի հին Հայաստանի սուրբ աշխարհը. այն քաղաքակրթությունը, որը պաշտում էր Արամազդին՝ աստվածների հորը, երկնքի և երկրի արարչին, Անահիտին՝ ոսկեծորդ մայր աստվածուհուն, որին հինները համարում էին հենց Հայաստանի գոյության պատճառը, և Վահագնին՝ վիշապաքաղին, ծնված կրակից, որոտից և ծովի կարմիր արշալույսից, որի հրաշագործ ծնունդը երգվել էր ամբողջ Հայաստանում և նույնիսկ աստվածների աշխարհում:

Սրանք ընդամենը պարեր չեն: Դրանք ծիսակատարություններ են – այն ժամանակների արձագանքները, երբ ամեն շարժում զոհաբերություն էր, ամեն ռիթմ՝ աղոթք առ տիեզերք: Կարեն Գևորգյանը, Հայաստանի մշակույթի վաստակավոր գործիչ և «Բերդ» պարի անսամբլի գեղարվեստական ղեկավարը, տասնամյակներ է նվիրել հայկական պարային ժառանգության ամենահազվագյուտ is բեկորների որոնմանը, պատմության ցրված հետքերից վերականգնել է կորցված աշխարհները և դրանք նոր շունչ է հաղորդել բեմում: «Հեթանոսական Պարեր»-ով նա ոչ միայն բեմադրում է, այլ հարություն է տալիս:
Նույնիսկ այսօր հայերը կրում են այս հին աստվածների անունները՝ Արամազդ, Վահագն, Անահիտ, Աստղիկ․ մի վկայություն, որ անկախ նրանից, թե քանի դար է անցել, Հայաստանի հեթանոսական հոգին երբեք իսկապես չի մարել: Հիմա այն նորից շարժվում է:
