It was partly about promising “no new taxes” and then caving on them. It was partly about sticking with an absolutely pathetic VP (Quayle). The 90% approval rating was a post-desert-storm delusion. Perot’s 18.9% was unbelievable and most of it came from Republicans that just weren’t passionate about Bush or loyal to the party.

One big difference. Trump is a convicted felon con man. Bush was a bland old GOP candidate. Politics today is completely different than 1992. Can you address the successes overseas that benefit Americans and not just assorted Trump enterprises? He has bullied several former allies into agreements that have yet to be fulfilled, caused Canada to halt several important exports to us, almost got a deal for rare earth minerals in Ukraine but threw them away by changing sides, betraying NATO and Ukraine, saved an Argentinian dictator by promising to send him $40 Billion dollars and opening our beef markets to more imported beef, while destroying long term agricultural export markets as former customers find new suppliers and so seriously damages American farmers he has to toss $12 Billion to so some few farmers may survive.
Then he puffs up to tell us that China has made a great deal for us because they agreed to spend Billions to help support us – just like they said they would do before but then didn't. Worse, he is giving them access to a newer generation of AI chips than they have now based on his great relationship and a promise they won't let their military learn how the new tech works and build upon that knowledge – just like they have been doing since WWII.
Inflation has not gone down, he is just saying it has. He is driving science out of our government and future economic benefits of having the most prestigious science research centers in the world because he doesn't understand it at all. He appointed a drug addict to head up our health and human service agencies who is replacing proven science-based health solutions based on non-existent research reports that support relying on wishes and hopes that contagious childhood epidemics will not return if we all just eat diets like he follows.
And you, of all people, are making money by fear mongering based on the most absurd twisting of facts into pure misinformation that you know appeals directly to MAGA emotions and sense of being oppressed. This dynamic doesn't need logic to wind them up, or make them feel proud of voting against their own best interests. Fighting democratic liberal foolishness by taking advantage of the trust you get to pitch this foolishness is undermining the foundations of America as a successful constitutional democratic republic. And you know it!
Folks, use critical thinking: don't get hung up on irrelevant details. The issue isn't exactly why HW lost. It's how to win *now*. "It's the economy, stupid" clearly contributed to his loss, and complaints about "affordability" will be a problem *now*.
