MANILA, PHILIPPINES — YGG Pilipinas announced the YouTube launch of its short film, “Metaverse Filipino Worker,” which explores the transformative impact of Web3 in shaping the future of work in the Philippines.

The Metaverse Filipino Worker or MFW represents the newest iteration on the role of the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).

You may watch the short film on YouTube now, under the Metaverse Filipino Worker channel.

OFWs have been addressing the country’s widespread unemployment while supporting its economy, earning them the title of “modern-day heroes.”

Thanks to Web3, Pinoys can become MFWs and reap the international opportunities of an OFW without leaving the country.

As a result, they do not need to leave their families, which is one of the biggest struggles for OFWs.

Moreover, MFWs perform digital work that requires advanced skills, seamlessly adapting to the digitally-evolving job market.

The 39-minute YouTube video shares a glimpse into the lives of the following Metaverse Filipino Workers:

  • Spraky is a Community Manager at YGG Pilipinas and co-founder of Axie University (AxU). He discusses what it takes to thrive in the Web3 community.
  • Desi is a competitive Web3 esports athlete who discusses how he turned the metaverse into his full-time job and farming his side hustle.
  • JB is the founder of NFT X-Street, a computer shop in Quezon City that specializes in Web3 games. She also discusses how Web3 helped her promote Filipino culture and provide local jobs.
  • Julie is a hardworking mom and online influencer who inspires other mothers to explore this decentralized digital frontier to build a brighter future for their kids.
  • Aileen and Kryztine are students at Sisters of Mary who empower underserved communities with Web3.
