MANILA, Philippines—Mark Nonoy may not be having the most ideal rookie season with Terrafirma but with talents around to make him better, there are some silver linings to look forward to.
Nonoy and the Dyip still remained winless in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup after 11 games on Friday when they faltered to guest team Eastern, 134-110.

While there may not be much to look forward to now for the young speedster out of La Salle with Terrafirma definitely out of the quarterfinals race, there’s still some things to soak up in the import-laden conference.

“His [Terrence Romeo] leadership is always there. Even in practice, he teaches me a lot,” said Nonoy in Filipino after another lopsided loss.

“He tells me his experiences, he shares them to me and I’m willing to listen to him because, of course, that’s Terrence Romeo. We know what a Kuya Terrence is capable of.”
Nonoy barely got his minutes in Dyip’s loss to Eastern but he was intently watching from the bench as Romeo and other Terrafirma guards went to work.
The UAAP champion was the sole scoreless player from the Terrafirma side but he had ample lessons learned from guards Romeo, Stanley Pringle and fellow La Salle alum Aljun Melecio.

“I’m thankful that they’re there. I hope they guide me more, especially since I’m a rookie. Aljun’s there too, Kuya Stanley as well, so it’s all okay.”
Pringle flirted with a triple-double of 16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Melecio and Romeo, meanwhile, dropped 17 and eight points, respectively, all while Nonoy was relishing his older brothers take the court.
Of course, Nonoy hopes to get more exposure in Terrafirma’s last game of the conference against TNT on Wednesday at Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
