United with 7,000 Greeks, they raised defenses and held with valor, repelling even the feared Immortals. Betrayed by Ephialtes, they were surrounded but chose to fight to the end. Leonidas’ sacrifice turned defeat into a moral victory: his name echoed through the centuries as an eternal symbol of courage, honor, and freedom.
