Kate Middleton, who is slowly planning her return to public duties, is highly anticipated to make a special appearance alongside her husband Prince William.
The Princess of Wales, who persevered through her cancer journey last year, will be marking her biggest comeback as she has been given new roles and responsibilities, insiders have revealed.
After skipping a major event for British film and television last year, plans have been set in motion to convince Kate to attend this year.
Prince William, who is the president of British Academy Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA), made a solo appearance as Kate was recovering from abdominal surgery at the time.
“Bafta has close ties with William and Kate and is pulling out all the stops to try to secure Kate’s presence at this year’s awards,” a well-placed insider told Daily Mail. “It sent her warmest wishes when she revealed her cancer diagnosis and hopes she will appear alongside William in what will be her big showbiz return since she’s been in recovery.”
The source added that “anything” the committee can do to work around Kate, they are willing to do it.
“William and Kate love to watch the nominated films beforehand and we know Kate enjoys meeting those working in the film industry. We have been told that she wouldn’t want to miss it, so she’s hoping to be there with William.”
Bafta film committee chairman Anna Higgs is “very hopeful” that Kate will be joining William at London’s Royal Festival Hall on February 16.
