Bryson DeChambeau is intrigued with TGL, the startup league that infuses technology and airs on ESPN on Monday and Tuesday nights in Primetime.

He discussed TGL with Ben Parsons of Bunkered.co after his first round at the International Series India.

“I think TGL has an interesting opportunity. I’m all about anything to grow the game, so if it’s helping grow the game, fantastic. I don’t know all the numbers behind it,” DeChambeau said.

“Would it be fun? Yeah, it could be fun. I don’t know if they’d pick me though, I have no idea. I’ve got a [LIV Golf] team over here, the Crushers GC, come on. The Crushers would be a part of that!”

DeChambeau’s popularity has grown exponentially in recent years, thanks to his YouTube stardom and improved ability to connect with fans on a personal level through social media. His U.S. Open victory last summer cemented that, as the crowd at Pinehurst No. 2 cheered for DeChambeau as much as they did Rory McIlroy, a reality that would not have been possible just a couple of years ago.

“It’s genuinely appreciated that people are starting to see who I am,” Dechambeau added.

“And I think a lot of it has to be attributed to going to LIV Golf and being able to produce a lot of YouTube content. My team back at home, my team that I work with, everyone involved around me, everybody around me, whether it’s my agent, manager, caddy, you name it, everyone has had a big impact in my life.”

Since joining LIV Golf in 2022, DeChambeau has leaned into YouTube and social media more and more. He started creating YouTube videos during the pandemic, but after joining LIV, he has taken it to a whole new level. He even told Joe Pompliano that he has spent over $1 million on his YouTube videos, which have become impressive productions.

“I think it is important,” DeChambeau said.

“And it’s great to have YouTube as a place for me to show who I am.”

Given that TGL is a futuristic golf league made for TV, DeChambeau would no doubt be a valuable addition. He would allure his fans to the league and give it extra juice.

After playing four matches already, TGL is off to a good start. But its biggest issue is if fans will continue to tune in. DeChambeau could help with that, and the idea of incorporating his LIV Golf team is intriguing too. Maybe that’s how PGA Tour and LIV Golf pros can play side-by-side more often.
