MANILA, Philippines—Alex Eala continued to reach greater heights in the Women’s Tennis Association ladder.
Eala took to social media to express her joy after jumping to another career-high rank in the WTA despite her slow start to the year.

“Step by step. [I] always appreciate a new career high,” wrote the 19-year-old tennis player.
Not too long ago, Eala was ranked as No. 143 in the WTA standings. Now, the Filipina tennis ace climbed seven rungs up to hang at the 136th spot.

This was despite not being able to advance to the main draw of the Australian Open a week ago.

Eala absorbed a 7-5, 6-2 loss at the hands of Jana Fett from Croatia in her last match of the Grand Slam qualifiers.
As of writing, Eala is currently positioned between Mananchaya Sawangkaew of Thailand (137) and Hungary’s Dalma Galfi (135).
