Love is in the air for Sunshine Cruz, who couldn’t help but wax poetic when asked to share her thoughts about love, just two days before Valentine’s Day.

“True love empowers you to grow and be the best version of yourself, which is the best lesson it offers. While love isn’t always forever, even heartbreak makes us stronger and wiser,” she told INQUIRER.net when asked about the best and worst lesson she has learned about love.

The actress was a guest and celebrity endorser at the kick-off of the Pamilya Ko partylist group in Tanay, Rizal. Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo was also at the event as a performer.

Cruz recently made headlines after business tycoon Atong Ang confirmed their romance following their viral cockpit kiss, videos of which were uploaded by several netizens on social media.

The “Unbreak My Heart” actress also shared that her Valentine’s Day will be full in the presence of her loved ones.

“I’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day with my mom, sisters and other loved ones over dinner, which also happens to be my sister’s birthday!” she said.

Not joining politics

Meanwhile, despite not running for a political seat herself, Cruz said she is actively advocating for family rights, as she stressed that her personal experience influences her stance.

“As a single parent of three young adults, I personally understand the struggles of balancing work and family,” she said.

She further said that non-traditional families, specifically single parents and LGBTQ+ families, often face challenges due to outdated legal definitions of family, which is why she leans into supporting groups that “aim to bridge those gaps and advocate for policies that recognize and protect diverse family structures.”

As a celebrity with such power to influence, Cruz also extended advice to voters in choosing the right leaders. “Look beyond popularity and do your research. Choose candidates and a party list that understands and represents your needs,” she stated.

Cruz shares three daughters—Angelina, Sam and Cheska—with her former husband, actor-producer Cesar Montano.
