Super Bowl LIX is set, as the Philadelphia Eagles are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, won by the Chiefs by a final score of 38-35. That was the first of back-to-back titles won by Kansas City, and with a win on Super Bowl Sunday the Chiefs would become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
With the big game on the horizon, many are planning their menus for Super Bowl Sunday. But if your shopping list contains Lay’s potato chips, there is some information you need to know.
Back in December Frito-Lay issued a recall for select bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips as they may contain “undeclared milk,” putting those with a milk allergy at risk. As noted on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website in December: “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.”
On Monday the FDA reclassified the recall under their highest risk level, a Class 1 recall, noting that exposure or consumption of the chips could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”
In the initial recall back in December Frito-Lay outlined that the 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips were sold in Oregon and Washington through stores and e-commerce retailers. In addition, consumers who have bags of those chips that contain both a “guaranteed fresh” date of February 11, and a manufacturing code of either “6462307xx” or “6463307xx” should dispose of those chips immediately, especially if someone in their household has a milk allergy.
