Le Creuset Cookware Is Up to 50 Percent Off Right Now

Few pieces of cookware anchor a kitchen’s ecosystem like a Dutch oven. Growing up, I would watch my mother lift her blue enamel Le Creuset Dutch oven off the shelf with all the preciousness of the Eucharist. The brand’s traditional round oven is on sale for under $200 right now, and, as Stephanie Ganz explains in this Dutch oven round-up, packs a lot of innovation in its seemingly spartan design; the Dutch oven’s lid, for example, is made with raised bumps that serve as condensation points, resulting in a self-basting effect that keeps the oven’s contents juicy. In my experience, the enamel interior — while not quite nonstick — also makes them pretty easy to clean.

The brand’s enameled cast-iron cocotte is designed to provide consistent, evenly-distributed heat retention and can withstand oven temperatures of up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m also a big fan of its substantial handles and lid knob; a lot of cookware brands are playing around with small and svelte handles these days (looking at you, Great Jones Dutch Baby lid), and while they look cool, I never quite feel like I have full control over my grip. This cocotte, however, feels fully-grippable and sturdy. 

I don’t have a yard or patio, so a bistro grill like this is key for charring vegetables and meats. The cast-iron grill is also equipped with (surprise!) some nice, large handles for easy maneuvering, and is compatible with ceramic, electric, gas, halogen, and induction stovetops.

There are quite a few deals on cookware bundles during Le Creuset’s big sale — including this whopper 11-piece cookware set — but it’s the brand’s five-piece bundle that caught my eye. The set includes the signature round Dutch oven (5.5 quarts), signature saucepan (1.75 quarts), the signature skillet (9 inches), and two lids for the oven and saucepan. No pressure, but it sure would make a killer Valentine’s Day present.
