MANILA, Philippines — The political dynamics in the 2025 senatorial race seemed to have shifted dramatically as senatorial candidate Luis “Chavit” Singson is emerging as a dark horse in the midterm elections, skyrocketing from 14.71 percent in November 2024 to an impressive 26 percent in the latest Tangere poll survey.

The 2025 Pre-Election Senatorial Preferential Survey conducted by Tangere in December showed a remarkable surge by  11.29 percentage points in Singson’s popularity among the 66 senatorial candidates.

The data was corroborated by Pulso Ng Pilipinas — another independent survey provider — wherein Singson’s favorability jumped by 22.75 percentage points, the most of any national candidate for 2025.

Though ranked 20-23 in the survey result, Singson’s new voter preference rating makes him the most improved senatorial candidate.

Singson’s campaign team sees the rapid ascent as a positive development and a sign of growing support for his candidacy.

Singson’s soaring popularity among voters in key regions like Metro Manila (or the National Capital Region) Northern Luzon, and Central Luzon has been nothing short of remarkable. His support in the Visayas and Mindanao regions leaves room for growth and further strategic maneuvers.

Experts say the reason for his growth is largely attributed to his breathtaking social media numbers — where he placed third in online reach among all senatorial candidates in November.

For December, as of this writing, Singson’s Facebook page has garnered bigger numbers in the last five days than in all of November combined, and he is on a clear pathway towards becoming the No.1 Facebook page for all national candidates before the end of the year.
