“I sold the coins for current pesos and went to the grocery store. I literally bought food for my family that day,” recalls Lobo Tiggre. In today’s summer series themed on how precious metals can change and even save lives, he shares emotional moments of how silver coins came to the rescue.
The first shock occurred in 1977:“My stack of cash is literally worth half of what it was the day before.” Decades later, in 1999, Lobo was driving to Costa Rica with his wife and three children when the job he was moving for vanished mid-journey. Stranded in Mexico with no income and mouths to feed, he turned to his old coin collection — a briefcase of silver he’d saved since childhood.
“If I had had paper pesos, they would have been basically worthless. But instead, I had those pesos that had a smidgen of silver.”
“That lesson didn’t just save my life. It later saved my family.”

For the Manhattan project we used 14,000 tons of silver to enrich the uranium used for little boy and fat man. We just obliterated nuclear enrichment sites. How much silver was down there?

Went down to Cabo 'a few years ago' now. Came back with a 1000 Peso note
Went to Huatulco last November so, I took that 'old' Peso note. Tried to spend it but, every retailer thought it was counterfeit. Took it to a bank, turns out it was now worth 60 Pesos. I guess I missed the part where Mexico has recently reset their currency. Anyone know anything about this?

This gold AND silver mining company recently acquired FULL permits . This has them now scheduled for pouring gold in January 2026 . In a safe jurisdiction , coupled with an experienced management team , the recent doubling of their share price isn’t surprising . It just today went over the .99 cent range – STILL a very low entry price for any budget .
Look at their textbook graph of a consistent UP and to the right trajectory .
