The night before Yerevan’s 2808th birthday. On the evening of October 9, I walked through the Kentron district while the city was getting ready for Erebuni-Yerevan. stages and scenes being set up, decorations going in, and the streets slowly filling with that pre-celebration feeling.
Erebuni-Yerevan is the city’s birthday, celebrated every October. Yerevan traces its founding to 782 BC, when the Urartian king Argishti I built the Erebuni fortress, the name “Yerevan” itself comes from Erebuni, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.
No narration, no music. just Yerevan on the eve of its birthday.
