LUCENA CITY — Two drivers died and eight other motorists were injured early Monday, Jan. 20, when a motorcycle and a van collided in Alaminos town in Laguna province.
The Region 4A police reported Monday that motorcycle rider Edward Ruelo was hit by a Nissan Urvan van driven by Rollie Collantes in a direct collision along Del Pilar Street in Alaminos town proper around 12:20 a.m.
Both drivers suffered grave injuries and were rushed by rescuers to a hospital in neighboring San Pablo City but were declared dead on arrival.
At least eight passengers of the van, all Sangguniang Kabataan officials from Tabaco City, Albay, suffered injuries and were confined for further treatment.
Investigators found out that the van overtook another vehicle running ahead at a blind curve, which led to the collision with the oncoming motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was wearing a crash helmet, police said.
Police were conducting further investigations. INQ
